Hornbach housing estate – A home for families
In District 8, an urban housing estate is being built on the Hornbach site – one of the two last large building reserves in Zurich in District 8.
In addition to 125 non-profit apartments, the Hornbach housing estate will also include commercial space, childcare facilities and a workshop belonging to the Green City of Zurich.
Family-friendly mix of apartments
The majority of the 125 apartments make up 4.5-room apartments (60). The apartment mix is supplemented by 25 3.5-room, 4 4-room and 17 5.5-room apartments. There are also a total of 17 1.5- to 3-room apartments and two cluster apartments for ten or twelve people. In a third of the apartments, the rent is cheaper through subsidies. According to the rental concept, almost 180 children and around 230 adults will live in the settlement in the future.
New building in line with the 2000 watt society
The settlement was built in accordance with the requirements of the cantonal housing subsidy of the Canton of Zurich in the Minergie-P-ECO standard and, in addition to a photovoltaic system, also has connections to the future “Seewasserverbund Klausstrasse”, which, in addition to providing heat in winter, also ensures year-round hot water supply should.
Application via the online service “My Account”
For the first time when an entire estate is rented out for the first time, the apartments are advertised via the city’s online service “My Account”. Interested parties apply online to take part in a viewing. The emonitor rental software runs in the background, whose random generator selects 630 people who can view a model apartment on one of three dates. In a second step, the actual applications can then also be submitted online using our software. A total of 105 of the 125 apartments are being advertised for rent. The remaining 20 apartments are rented out directly.
